Chocolate Labrador Retriever
Sweet, affectionate, amazingly intelligent and perceptive, Ritter always knew exactly what was going on in every situation, how I was feeling, and what I needed. He gave the biggest and best sloppy kisses, had a smile that always made me smile, and could melt my heart in a moment. I always knew and never doubted for a moment how much he loved me. Completely. Unconditionally.
Ritter, losing you has been one of the most difficult things I’ve ever had to face. You were my best friend, my ‘little guy,’ my ‘buddy,’ and my ‘monkey’ for 10 amazing years, although far too short of a time for us to have had together. You gave so much joy, laughter and love to everyone, and brought so much life to every situation, especially to our life together. You were the best big brother to Reeses, and when she couldn’t see as well anymore, you stepped up to the challenge and became the best ‘seeing-eye dog’ in the world for her, too. You were my best friend through so many tough years, trials and tribulations. You never missed a step, Ritter. You were always there for me and Reeses. You never quit or gave up. You were brave and fought the good fight, even until the very end. You came into our lives, left your precious paw prints on our hearts, and we are forever changed and better for having shared life with you. Now you’re making new paw prints in Heaven, Ritter, and I look forward to one day running and playing and laughing with you again in the land of endless joy and love. I’ll always love you, Ritter, and you’ll always have a special place in my heart. Until we meet face-to-face once again, buddy...
