Labrador/Jack Russell Terrier mix
Everyone's best friend. Strong, energetic, and extremely intelligent.
On August 20th, I lost the best dog in the world. From her puppy days of licking and chewing on my fingers, to her adult years of chiseled physique and dragster-like reflexes, to her chubby elder days..... Her life's mission: Tennis ball! From the first time she unknowingly jumped onto our swimming pool cover to retrieve a tennis ball (and having to be scooped off of it), she developed an obsessive love affair with tennis balls. For the last 12 years, we would launch tennis balls across the yard, over the bushes, and down the hill for her. And each time, she would explode off like a race horse across the yard, soar effortlessly over the bushes, and find the balls no matter where they landed. On August 19th, she managed to bring the ball home for the very last time. Because the very next day, we found her lying peacefully in her forever sleep, with her ball sitting only a few inches from her. As quickly as she came to us, she was gone. Goodbye, my Sydney Puppy! You will be impossible to replace!
